Anxiety and Depression

6:10 pm 24 March 2023 Luis 1 Comments

Depression and anxiety occur when the emotional body signals that certain emotions must be recognised, felt, and ultimately released. These emotions come up to the surface to get our attention. The body goes through fight and flight mode and perceives those emotions as threats. The stress hormone- cortisol is released. When excessive cortisol is released into the bloodstream through our digestive wall, the body may experience nervousness, nausea, rushing energy, and stomach ache accompanied by diarrhea, constipation, bloating, and headache on the temple, forehead, or top of the head.

Self-Healing with a Meditation

4:28 pm 10 September 2022 Luis 1 Comments

All of us can focus and move our attention around different parts of our bodies. And although this practice may be effortless, it also has the potential to be highly healing. Many times, what is important is what we ignore because it is the simplest.

When we move our attention and consciousness through meditation, we proceed with subtle energies almost invisible in our bodies. With that flow of energy that we move consciously, we invite the dissolution of blockages.

The body as a microcosm of universe

8:15 pm 22 August 2022 Christine-Shen 0 Comments

Acupuncture, herbal medicine and diet are integrated natural modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the Eastern discipline of Daoism, the human body has long been viewed as a small universe, as a microcosm.

One of the main ideas of Taoism is the belief in balancing forces, or yin and yang. These ideas represent matching pairs, such as light and dark, sky and earth which work together toward a universal whole.

Five in elements in the body:

Our body is a mirror of universe. In the physcial body, the face is yang, the feet is yin; Back of the body is yang, front of body is yin.

Nature has fire, wood , earth, water and metal. In our body, from Chinese medicine perspective, Heart and small intestine are the fire element; Liver and gall Bladder are the wood element; Spleen and Stomach are the earth element; Lung and large intestine are the metal element; Kidney and Urinary bladder are the water element.

Heart is engine of the body which belongs to the fire element. It is the emperor of the kingdom which called imperial fire. Lung in the upper sky catches the warm vapour from the heat emanated from the pericardium which protects the heart from over heating  and then mixes the cold air through breathing then generated fresh water. This fresh water rains down sipping through the earth into the ocean.  Fire element of small intestine from below then steams up the salt water in urinary bladder to pump into the blood stream again to the heart.

The five elements demonstrates how human body are the mirror of our environment and nature. .The inter dependance and inter governing, inter transferring relationships keep the body and nature in perfect balance. When one element is too strong or too weak, it will impact the other elements. When the body is not balance, dis- ease occurs In nature, when there is too much water in one area, there is a drought in the other part of the earth.

Chinese medicine including acupuncture, Herbal medicine, diet and tai chi movement are the integrated approach to bring body back to its natural balance.

Does Your Liver Need a Spring Tune-Up?

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, each season is ruled by a particular organ system and spring is connected to the liver. What does this mean? Well, you probably notice changes in the way you feel, both physically and mentally, as the seasons change. I know I tend to feel a bit more contemplative and introspective during the winter months. Once spring hits, I'm ready to recharge and get things done. The liver energy is strong and assertive, the type of energy you need to create plans and then propel them into motion. However, if your liver is a little out of balance, you might notice you are more irritable or on edge than usual. Here are a few signs that your liver is in need of an acupuncture tune-up:

Go Deeper – The kidneys

4:56 pm 15 July 2022 Christine-Shen 0 Comments

The organs in Chinese medicine are more than just a physical representation. The organs include both their physiological function and mental, emotional, spiritual and elemental qualities that align with nature and the seasons. Let's explore the kidneys.

The kidney element in Chinese medicine governs water and is associated with winter, where the energies turn from the hotter yang months to the more yin of winter.  Each organ has an element: liver and wood, stomach and earth, kidney and water, for example. There is also an emotion, a colour and a flavour associated with the organ system. For the kidneys, the feeling is fear, the colour is dark or black, and the taste is salty. It also opens to the ear, has the direction north and is paired with the bladder. The kidney element houses willpower and manifests in the teeth and lustre of the hair.

Sssshhhhh: Organ Sound Vibration

5:49 pm 15 September 2021 Christine-Shen 0 Comments

Did you know shushing someone might actually be beneficial to your health? Six healing sounds are known to Taoist qi gong, practice vibrating specific organs and promoting emotional and physical well-being.

It has been shown sound vibrations promote healing and provide a type of massage to the organs. Six main organs that benefit from this sound vibration include the liver, heart, spleen, lungs, kidneys and triple burner. These are known as yin organs in Traditional Chinese Medicine and are associated with wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Relaxing attention to the organ to release stuck energy and emotion is key to vibrational healing. It is not even necessary to voice the sounds; a whisper will do or even a mental rendition of the sound. There are many methods of qi gong practise for sound healing. You can explore more on YouTube or seek a qi gong teacher for more specific practice
